Finally got around to making our record label icon...

Finally got around to making our record label icon...

The kids and I had fun doing this for the Ambassadors of Chaos brand. This is our official trademark. The wee people love Photoshop so we plan to spend the weekend building the Ambassadors of Chaos music website. Our mugs and tee shirts are in progress. We are also doing a new video for RainCamp that is turning out to be mad fun to create.

It will be a very creative weekend for the wee people. The shorties love arts and crafts and digital art gives them instant gratification. Time to get back to our bagels (LOL). The wee people have to go to school soon and I have to hit the studio. ;-)

P.S. Our Ambassadors of Chaos Facebook page. :-)

Did I Mention I Love Penelope Trunk?

Did I Mention I Love Penelope Trunk?

http://blog.penelopetrunk.com/2010/07/30/fire-up-your-career-by-befriending-the-intern/

Until 5 minutes ago I was really pissed about the neighbor above my apartment waking me and the kids up. Heels on hardwood floors in the wee hours of the morning while one stumbles about before 5AM makes me really cranky. I am cool with her morning noise after 5 because her normal alarm habits usually has me lurking on-line around 5:11 AM (her second snooze button - LOL).

After I took my cranky, bleary eyed, hair standing up like a troll doll, blogger's behind to the toilet, I opened my e-mail and started my day with this link that cracked me the hell up. While I convert from bed b*tch to bagel queen go read Penelope's article. If you have ever been an intern you will really enjoy this bit of advice. She's a fabulous writer who always gives me something to smile about.

Right now, a shower and Starbucks with the wee people is starting to look really good. Free WiFi means I can open two browsers to read more blogs while the kids Netflix with the pupu juju nunu people (Tak). Did you know some Starbucks open at 5? We may even go to Bagel & Co because we love the smell of fresh baked bread.

Thank God for bagel places. I love NYC. You can eat 24 hours a day here if you decide to never cook again. :-)

The "Painting with Sound" album is live in iTunes

Carolyn Tann Starr 2010

The "Painting with Sound" album is live in iTunes

I had a few e-mails inquiries about releasing the Alice in Wonderland Pavillion track and found myself thinking that might not be such a bad idea.

Since I finished "Mangigian" on time, we decided to put together 8 cuts into an album entitled "Painting with Sound." I updated the music widget on my sidebar so you can hear them. We consolidated the previous singles released with the two most requested Life With Wee People cuts and a new song. I like creating songs for my friends. We are having a lot of fun with it and I was a bit surprised to see how fast the "Mangigian" project expanded.

I am on my way into the studio with the wee people to arrange new music, then I have to get our bagels and drop the shorties off at school. We have play-dates lined up today so no real estate issues or agendas are on the table. Just fun, fun, fun, fun, fun (LOL). I am looking forward to sharing a park bench with Stephen and Noah later, enjoying ice cream and ear-buds. :-)

Gotta run. "Stephen Dance," "Jeka" and "Mangigian" are each turning into full albums so I have a lot of technical work to do. The more I hum the more music I create (Stephen taught me that little trick - LOL).

This is turning out to be a stellar Summer vacation... ;-)

Life With Wee People: Kids Are Funny...

Carolyn Tann Starr 2010

Life With Wee People: Kids Are Funny...

I am chilling on the futon with the iPod Nano listening to my developing tracks, trying to paint with sound, when Noah casually comes along with his SpongeBob disk. "It's Noah's turn," he quietly announces, then promptly kicks me and my Nano to the curb. I watch as he promptly closes iTunes, Sony Vegas, Sony Acid and Photoshop only to remove my ear buds FROM MY EARS and set up the Xenyx 502 5-input/2 bus mixer to enjoy a preamp version of SpongeBob.

Hmm...

I'm thinking, "Holy cow - the kid got the input-output sequence to the UCA200U-control right... How cool is that? Very..."

Then I'm thinking, "Oh crap... I can't blog or Netflix..." Bummer (LOL).

Two hours later, I get back on-line to write this post and Stephen comes over and says "Pupu juju nunu people? Hexflix?"

I start laughing because no matter how many times I say "Tak" to my four year old he still refers to the show as the pupu juju nunu people. Sometimes N and F equals H to him. Hexflix is Netflix. Hosted Hakes is Frosted Flakes. Horida house is Florida house... Little dude is in speach therapy so I have to really listen carefully when he speaks. It was the guy-pie-smile and twinkling chocolate eyes that did me in. I sigh... I wait... The kid doesn't move...

He stands there staring at me simply waiting for an answer. Hmm...

Me: "You want Netflix?"

Step: "Yes, Mama."

Then he showed me his dimples again.

Of course this means I am now logging off to watch cartoons. If I am really lucky (a) they wont fight over which ones and (b) they wont make me play Netflix through my Roland speaker. That puppy has mad wattage (LOL). I keep a set of Behringer headphones plugged into it just in case they do turn it on. Stephen has yet to meet  a button he didn't like to push. :-)

Kids are funny... give them a little studio time and everything suddenly becomes a wee people production. Who needs a pro amplifier for cartoons? Seriously... Oh... wait... it appears that we do (LOL). ;-)

Blog This!

Carolyn Tann Starr 2010 Carolyn Tann Starr 2010

Blog This!

Our latest album single "BlogThis!" just went live in iTunes. I shall have to create an excuse to YouTube something so you can hear the entire song. I don't want to update all of my music widgets until the next single is mastered. We are going to celebrate at Yotveta and Kyoto later today if I behave and pull it off.

Yotveta for lunch to celebrate the release of "Blog This!" and Koyoto is my reward for finishing Mangigian before dinner (LOL). Yes, you can get a lot out of me with good food. Especially Hagen Daz (LOL). ;-)

Gotta run. I have to behave and get my butt back in the studio with the wee people to finish Mangiggly the I-Talian's new song. She may actually wind up getting two tracks because "Mangigian" is a very happy little blues number created for my gal pal Susan Mangigian (who was gracious enough to let me use her photograph for the project), but I keep humming something that seems to be developing into a song I am thinking of naming "Brown Eyed Susan" (LOL).

My sweetie pie has gorgeous brown eyes to match her lovely personality... She's an excellent Realtor and very dear friend. Sometimes it's the little things that inspire great ideas (and my friends frequently inspire me to do all sorts of things - LOL).

Maybe I'll do a Club Chaos Eye Candy tour of homes next and show off my fave Queens County homes to "Blog This!" so you can see where I've been running amok and hear the entire song. After all, jogging and blogging is what I sometimes do (LOL).

In the meantime, feel free to go checkout the iTunes or Amazon preview while I am collecting my eye candy. In case you were wondering I wrote the song for TLW (LOL). Like I said, it's the little things I find so inspiring. I've learned that from the wee people and she has such a mad cool icon.

I love TLW and BB. I think they are simply amazing. ;-)

Got RainCamp?

Got RainCamp?

The cool thing about having a virtual family is when we find reasons to come together for a visit. RainCamp is going to be mad fun in Boston. I flipped out about missing DC. When you have wee people some things just can't be helped (LOL).

The only way you are going to find out if the Life With Wee People crew are going to be there is if you go to RainCamp yourself. Am I a tease? Um... er...yeah (LOL).

BTW, here's Jeka's b-day song I was chatting about yesterday. Told you I'd find an excuse to use it.

Got RainCamp? No? Hmm... Go get some... Seriously... It will blow your real estate mind. ;-)

Land Shark! Land Shark!

My girlfriend Lise was kind enough to make this available for a reblog. What a great photograph. :-)

Via Lise Howe, Assoc. Broker and Attorney Licensed in DC, MD, VA,Coldwell Banker (Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Chevy Chase):

I was stuck in Silver Spring in traffic a few days ago, and looked up at the building in front of me. I was instantly reminded of the great Saturday Night Live skit about Land Sharks.  This is the Discovery Building in Silver Spring near the Metro and the intersection of Colesville Road and Georgia Avenue, just a few miles from my hometown of Bethesda and Chevy Chase, its nearest neighbor.  I guess it is decorated for the summer! And I thought that Jaws just lived in the water! LandShark

Jazz with Jessica

Carolyn Tann-Starr 2010

Jazz with Jessica

Jessica R Klein is mad cool so for her birthday the shorties and I created a jazz single just for her.

Being a good sport (and very gracious) Jeka let me upload it and her lovely face to my distributor and 180 countries (LOL). Should be out on iTunes next week. May be on Internet radio tomorrow if Noah will lay down and go to sleep. Shorty wont stop "helping" me. So far, I've been disconnected five times (LOL).

I may have to find something interesting to create in YouTube so you guys can hear it around midnight. It has lyrics but I swapped the vocals out for sax, trumpets and trombones. Gotta get to SC so Alicia can sing on a remastered cut. Then again, I may just shred that idea and arrange some new music...

Creating music relaxes me and keeps my ADD busy... It also keeps the wee people VERY busy (LOL). They like editing me and Stephen is always asking for the ear-buds. We spend a lot of time on park benches bobbing our heads while sharing the ipod Nano. Today's recording adventure includes such notable highlights like (a) Stephen cranking the volume up so high on the mixer that my speakers popped, (b) I forgot to turn off my cell phones and one rang in the middle of recording vocals (which was not good because the ruined track turned out to be the best track) and (c) me deciding after 97 takes that this really needed to be an instrumental until Alicia gets her hands on it (LMAO). ;-)

Lazy or naughty? Hmm... You can decide after you hear it (LOL). Stephen started dancing so when my minion producer refuses to return the earphones technically my studio work is done and he has earned his M&Ms for the evening. BTW, my boys absolutely adore her and so do I. :-)

Jess, may God bless you and yours and may your B-day be full of joy.

Looking forward to hearing what you cook up in Garage Band, girlfriend. ;-D

Oooooooo... They are sooooooo cute... Check out this YouTube (LOL)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVMhuiHm50I

We are in the studio creating a song for Jeka for her B-day. I'm briefly high-jacking my girlfriend later for a photo-shoot so we can put her on the album cover of her tribute single. She's a great sport for putting up with us (yeah, I know... we can be a wee bit naughty at times - LOL).

I was taking a break poking around Facebook when I discovered this YouTube link from Jessica's gal pal Liz. Oooooooo... They are sooooooo cute... Check out this YouTube of very attentive, adorable puppies doing the cutest "I'm paying attention - what? WHAT?" series of head tilts I've ever seen.

OMG - I want a puppy!!! My 4 year old needs a dog... Seriously... That kid follows me around to the point where if I suddenly stop short his head sometimes bounces off the back of my butt (LOL). Shorty really thinks he is the boss of me. (Pssst... he is - LOL)

Got a cute pet? Send me your doggie pics so I can discuss this with Mikey. Embed those puppies in the comment section so we can all see your pet pookie.

Of course hubby's gonna want to know why my social media peeps knew before he did that I'm angling for a pet. Hmm... Time to text the hubby, eh?

Yeah... he really needs a heads up on this one. Pets are like children. It's sort of like asking to adopt a new family member. I'm really looking forward to having this conversation today. I may audio answer you guys later because today's outside office will be from the park. ;-)

Be The One

My girlfriend Lisa was kind enough to make this available for a re-blog.

Via Lisa Heindel, New Orleans West Bank Real Estate (Keller Williams Realty Crescent City West Bank Partners):

If you don’t live along the Gulf Coast, you probably haven’t been inundated every single day, multiple times a day, for the last 3 months with the images of oil spewing uncontrollably and the memories of lives lost in the initial explosion of the Deepwater Horizon.

Your local newspapers probably are not filled with oil spill related stories from the front page to the back.

You may have seen photos of oily pelicans, but not realize how many people are now out of work.

You may have watched a report on the cleanup of the beaches of Grand Isle, LA, but not seen how the marshlands are dying from a combination of oil and dispersants.

This disaster will take many, many, many years for our eco-system and Gulf to recover from.

And we need to make our voices heard. Now.

Be the one.
