It started when I tripped and tried not to fall... I wish I would have busted my a$$ instead messing up Sean Connery
I was doing some legal research on my laptop last night around 11PM and had a 500 page binder sitting open on the floor while I hole-punched documents from Lexis-Nexis. I decided to raid the kicthen for a snack, was heading back to my impromptu work corner when I stepped on my lace, tripped, tried not to fall, stepped down on the open binder and found myself impaled on a round curve of metal.
Stunned that I could actually be stabbed in the foot through my sneaker, I reacted very poorly...
Pain made me jerk my foot up because I was unaware that the metal was actually IN MY FOOT. The bad part? Instead of easing it out on the curve, I ripped it out by shaking the binder in a hopping panic.
Pages flew.
Blood flowed.
Shoe. Got. Ruined.
For those of you new to my blog I only own 5 pairs of shoes so this is a very significant statement (LOL).
While crawling down the hall to the bathroom my skin stretched uncomfortably tight as my foot got swollen with the speed of an S&M demon coming out to play. I accidentally knocked over my sketch of Sean Connery.
It got dented and dirty.
I. Got. Mad.
I tried to stand up to reach the medicine cabinet.
Fell. On. My. A$$.
I will not try to articulate my undignified sprawl from crash-landing in the bathroom. Lets just say my head had no business being where it was when I stopped seeing those squiggly little white lights flashing across my tear blurred vision...
Damn... Irony is a fickle b*tch, eh?
I should have just accepted the first stumble and fall with a little dignity and moved on.
Now I have to (1) sketch a new Sean Connery, (2) cancel the next four days of events and (3) pray I learn how to walk correctly again (and not have my foot injury morph into a larger problem - sigh). This type of stab wound is really hard to handle. It never stops hurting. That fact alone is really bumming me out because I was really looking forward to going to the gallery party tonight (eyes rolling in head, lip poking out, extremely tired put-upon sigh). I also have several illustrations and paintings to complete before my road trip. Now I have angst about driving (sigh).
Why?
Maybe because I have already busted my a$$ three times this morning simply trying to get dressed (LOL). I'm talking full topple over people (silly grin). It took me over an hour to walk 10 NYC blocks to get to Starbucks. My foot is swollen, the bottom is throbbing, the top is burning, my right ankle keeps failing, my toes wont wiggle and there is this fascinating hole with flesh missing I have to keep switching the bandages for and putting antibiotics on...
Everyone is telling me to eat a lot of raw garlic. When I finish this post I'm going to hobble my bloggers butt on over to Key Food and get some because military folk know what they are talking about...
Rumor has it I am going to have a long, boring week end unless I can find something fun to spoof on for my blog while not inadvertently crippling myself (sigh). I think I know just the thing to cheer me up...
Stay tuned for Book Club: NYCC, Kim Harrison and Jeaniene Frost are up on deck (Oh Joy! - evil grin). ;-)
