Yeah... I had to do it. It was just too funny to pass up. I hang out with my elderly neighbors a lot because they are mad fun to spend time with, have a wicked sense of humor and routinely treat me like a their "child" (which results in lots of lunch and dinner invitations - LOL).

A few minutes ago people were looking at me in Starbucks wondering what was going on because I couldn't stop laughing at this. I could just picture my naughty old readers in crime getting into this, creating their own elderly text codes while weighing in with their sense and sensibilities (LOL).

Since most of my brick and mortar book club bookies are not Facebook friends with my real estate buddies (like Carol Smith) I just had to bring this virtual conversation to them. Now we're all giggling in the isles watching this conversation unfold (LOL). I love social media - it helps bring people together (happy sigh).

You guys have to at least make an attempt to respect the Facebook community...

I already told you not to drag me into groups I don't join myself. Now I have to say don't be so free to give up information about your friends and family members to apps you think are useful. Maybe I don't share your opinion regarding a particular app's usefulness.

Stik.com is something a lot of real estate professionals use. I answer requests for recommendations from people I know and like but don't do it for myself. I found out today someone recommended me on that platform. How? Why? I didn't set up a profile for that and have no intention of bugging my social media peeps for recommendations.

I am annoyed because you guys are not paying attention to what I am telling you not to do. If you supposedly respect a person enough to friend and recommend them, then how about respect them enough not to give up their information, drag them into groups they did not join and plop them into apps they don't plan to maintain.

I don't do Four Square either... I do however play Mafia Wars (and will quite happily join your Mafia - LOL).

If I am going to use a self serving app the least you can do is let me select it on my own. Is that too much to ask?

I also want to pick my own groups.

I shouldn't have to un-group on a weekly basis.

You guys have to at least make an attempt to respect the Facebook community... I've liked hundreds of your links and embraced numerous causes but I can't like and embrace them all. Respect me for not wanting to.

Dang... I missed the FB memo on "See Friendship"

My sister-in-law Mona posted a Playstation blurb on my wall, so I start smiling and went to click the "Like" button and I see a "See Friendship" link sitting right next to it.

Hmm...

I'm thinking, "this is gonna be interesting..." I clicked the link and it was (LOL).

If you are argumentative or really playful with your peeps you are about to be reminded of every damned recent conversation/comment and wall post you have had together because "See Friendship" puts it in order for you. It also has a search box to the right and lists your friends in common on the left, plus your common likes.

How stalker friendly of you FB.

Why do I say that?

Because the idiots who designed this allow you to select two different friends (which means it started out as you thinking you could only check you and another person only to realize you can compare everyone on your friends lists against each other to "discover" stuff).

Theoretically, a parent can put their child's name and the person their child is having a relationship with (if all are friends) and monitor their contact. If you are not all friends you can get a third party friend to do it - NOT COOL FB.

Do you have no imagination of the potential havoc immature people can cause with this new feature?  

Question: Does it still work if you un-friend people? After all, this is about digging up stuff in chronological order recently posted to your wall or the walls of your friends. I am trying to see what my oldest comment/conversation will be while wondering how many college kids are going to un-friend their relatives and people who know their ex-whatever (LOL). 

Question: Are you people trying to destroy your brand? I really like you so START THINKING ABOUT WHAT NEW PRIVACY COMPLAINTS YOU MAY BE CREATING before you launch links that remind people what their last stupid social media argument was about or have them discover that the dumb joke X shared about the boss as a forgotten crass comment on Y's page is now a captured PDF/JPEG screen saver created by a moronic third party in common...

Yes... It is true. We all have at lest one stupid friend and one pain in the a$$ relative...  

Another Stellar Opt Out Moment Brought To You By Facebook...

Yes, I am being sarcastic (LOL).

I love you guys but stop adding me to your Facebook groups without my permission. In case you found yourself wondering why you may also be getting some strange e-mails from groups your FB peeps unceremoniously plopped you into, here is how you make them go away:

(1) click on Account on the top-right of the Facebook interface, then select Application Settings...

(2) Find the Groups Application, then select click Edit Settings, then click the Additional Permissions Tab and uncheck the boxes that read Publish Content To My Wall and Adds You To A Group.

(3) Tell your peeps to quit it (LOL). ;-)

Whiney moment done. Back to playing in YouTube with the shorties. :-)

Facebook previously announced plans during October 2009 to (1) remove application boxes and (2) application info sections on our personal profile pages. Facebook also informed users they planned to reduce the width of the application tabs "to optimize for the new profile and Facebook Pages format."

Hmm...

You do realize they will be moving forward with these changes sooner than you think... According to the above link, those changes are going to be happening during the week of August 23, 2010.

Got business information in those profile boxes on your personal pages? You may want to start reading up on how to customize the new tabs because those profile boxes are gonna be gone...

For the people who don't get the significance of this little announcement: Did I mention your info in the boxes will be gone?

Go look at the row of boxes directly under your personal profile picture. Don't know about you but I have business website links, photo albums, video and other brief points of useful information there. Some of you have listing widgets and music...

Those boxes have a lot of significance to many users.

I am not happy about the change but I do respect their right to make programming improvements to the website.

Get ready for growing pains...

A Facebook Page, run by Jonathan Rivera was recently shut down by Facebook due to a complaint of the use of the vanity URL and the use of the trademarked term REALTOR®.  He had been made aware of the violation after selecting his vanity URL, but as Facebook’s guidelines state: “You will not be able to edit or transfer this username once you set it.” The irony of this story is that when Jonathan was made aware of the violation he tried to reach out & contact Facebook to correct it, but was unable to do so. He tried desperately to be in compliance with NAR rules & regulations.  Instead of Facebook allowing him to fix the username, they instead shut down the Real Estate Referral Page completely leaving a network of over 47,000 fans without a home.

This network was not only another fun page on Facebook, but also as he stated in the interview I recently heard, a good source of referrals having delivered over 1,400 referrals around the country to agents for free.

This is just once again another reason why it is important to know what laws & trademarks exist before picking a username, a web address or anything.  It will be interesting to see what happens with this as things move forward.  Jonathan has been working diligently to get the page reinstated, and from his interview with Techsavvy Agent, NAR was being agreeable in him keeping the page as long as the username gets changed.

Only time will tell what happens with this.  One thing I surely learned from this is that I will definitely think twice before selecting the next vanity URL for a Facebook Page.

I just copied this quote from the Q&A area where you can check your privacy settings and restrict programs and applications. There is a beach butt virus going around and now I keep getting these LoudMo pop ups from hell.

My IE browser keeps crashing. Something called Eternos was in my Facebook applications list and when I clicked it Facebook sid it was invalid, so I deleted it and restricted a bunch of application permissions while I am trying to figure out just how much damage was done by that video player application that whacked my laptop this afternoon.

Just so you know: I did not send a beach butt video to infect your machines. That was a FB virus. Seriously...

That little quote is also a reminder for you guys to be careful about your YouTube embeds. Too many music videos on your walls may be a dangerous thing... Go check your settings and decide just how public you want your stuff to be.
