RANT: Evil is having your spouse wipe the drive and not save your pictures...

Evil is having your spouse wipe the drive and not save your pictures...

I thought my fabulous four year old was the one I had to watch out for when it came to the family's electronics. Mikey just got added to the list. I have to cancel my morning, line up my simm cards and reload over 8,000 pictures Oh my word... the number may be closer to 10K... I have a lot of simm cards and shorty flushed a few... (sigh).

Men... (big SIGH)

I may have to go upstate and relax with my God-brother Joe after this F11 accident. Why do function keys temp so many people to just wipe it all out and start over if the machine starts to slow down during gaming? (Yes, it's true, I was wiped for a friggin' game - LOL) Then he goes, "I'm thinking of buying a new computer. I want you to look at these two (Dell versus Gateway) and tell me what you think."

Hmm... It is dangerous to ask the opinion of a witchy woman on the war path.

My answer? Buy a Sony, HP or a Toshiba. You are not a student. You are a gamer. You need more capacity and I am biased so you should never ask me because I will always chase a Sony, HP or a Toshiba. If you really want to make MY day BUY an APPLE MAC with a really big screen...

I wish I had a camera for the look on his face. It was priceless. I ruined his research speech (LMAO).

I love Apple. I really, really do. I will not repent from being a witchy woman... I have to live with what ever he buys, so I wanna Mac, I wanna Mac, I wanna Mac...

BTW, I have a Mac. I love my Mac Cube. I know it's old but I refuse to give it up. It's a MAC. It runs Adobe, Digital Performer and Final Cut Pro. I get my geek on with my Mac. Seriously geeky, but I digress... (LOL) ;-)

Was that really not helpful for the hubby? Yeah... I'm the unhelpful chick with a flipped b*tch switch this morning who has no problem disclosing her bias and being cranky about her missing work (LOL). We lost the sticker for my Microsoft Office (did I mention the fabulous four year old?) so I had to download the 2010 Beta until I find a number of someone who can look up my purchase history and give me a serial number for my software.

I'm gonna go get some Frosted Flakes and herd my crazy kids into the shower so they can go to school. I have to edit the rest of my film so you guys can see Lenn, Patti and SarahGray cooking. I really enjoyed their cooking and have been hoarding all sorts of images that need to see the light of day. :-)

Will be blogging live from Pawling, New York tomorrow. I feel an ActiveRain road trip coming on. I will try to find something interesting to show you from my next invasion of a state near you. I have to go mumble something amusing and sarcastic while I become the upload queen until it is time to leave.

Did I mention over 8,000 pictures have to be put back? How about the fact that doesn't include 3 years worth of digital film clips... (sigh). We will not talk about the missing music files. My virtual head might explode (LOL). Thank goodness I left my laptop at my gal pal's house last night. Who knows what the boys may have gotten into while I was out working.

Oh well... nothing beats a trip down memory lane. Maybe I should do my version of the Wordy C way back machine (LOL). This might turn out to be fun. Let's see where our virtual life takes us today. I shall spoof on the hubby and wee people later.

Sugar and tea awaits me... I have got to buy some Hagen Daz. Seriously...

Blog post therapy done. :-)

Girl, I feel your pain!  Hold out for the Mac -- then get an iPhone -- and life will be good again  : )

C-Oh my goodness. I think you reacted very very well under the circumstances. Chocolate, I recommend chocolate.

Oh gosh....I feel for you.

Poor hubby ? Sleeping on the couch this week?

I might be accused of murder?  But, my husband is great when it comes to things like this.

I knew I liked you... (from one Mac geek to another)

Carolyn:  You are so lucky to have 8000 photos any way any where!   I am not that organized.....Now, go and buy an external drive from best buy and organized them all on it......I have an old one but I am thinking of getting a new one and starting over....your sad story has motivated me!

Posted by Jane Grant, "Temecula Homes", Southwest Real Estate about 2 years ago

Yikes!!!!!  I can so see my Mikey doing this!  I don't do anything on the home computer anymore......and nobody touches my laptop!

Bless you and good luck!

Posted by Ann Allen CDPE SRES ASP e-PRO REALTORĀ® ~ Hoover AL Homes for Sale (RE/MAX Advantage South) about 2 years ago

Jane, I am ashamed to admit my external hard drive is sitting on the door in the foyer closet (LOL).

Alan, I love you! Us Mac Geeks have got to stick together. :-)

Missy, he needs to take his butt to FL and mow our lawn (LOL). ;-)

Dick and Dixie, I am on the hunt for the M&M stash. I know we have some. The kids get paid in M&Ms. We have to keep them on hand at all times to bribe them (LMAO). :-)

Dianne, I have been drooling over the iPhone. I have to wait for my two LGs to be tortured to death by my fabulous four year old. Stephen the Minion Blur is always killing the electronics. Drowning my cel phones in the toilet is a hobby that needs to be redirected (LOL).

Ann, I was with Sana this morning and she apologized for not giving me my laptop back last night. I was like, "Why? Do your writing... Don't worry about it. I have a tower..." while sitting behind the wheel acting all casual. I didn't want to say YOU BLOODY SAVED ME BY KEEPING IT OVERNIGHT! My kids are crazy! My hubby is crazy! I am going crazy loading hundreds of pictures per simm card! (LOL). OMG - I have to tag them all again. Crap. I forgot that little detail (LOL).

Am I tempted to go hang out at Sana's house and write? Yeah... Big time... At least my projects will be safe there. Besides, they have a really great garden in the backyard and I can probably work that into my digital day job (LOL). I need an icon so I can post my next article. I am hunting through AR looking for peeps to link back to after quoting them. I also have to do my Localism.com posts. Lots of events are happening in NYC. Life With Wee People is going to be mad fun this Summer. ;-)

C:

Please cut the poor guy a break - you should know that we men only think of 3 or 4 thing in total, and only one at a time.

BTW - you should back up regularly.

I'm gonna run for cover now.

Sounds like you need your own computer and your own room, lock & key!  And throw in a couch for an occasional nap and a college size fridge for that ice cream.  Ah, peace and quiet!

Good luck with that project of yours!

Posted by Cynthia Larsen - Sonoma County Real Estate Broker (707-332-2560 www.safehavenrealty.com) about 2 years ago

Jesse, the problem with back up is the Minion Blur usually destroys the DVDs. He throws them like frisbees (LOL).

Cynthia, I am really naughty. I get on everyone's computer. I tend to work where ever someone else isn't working. My kids kinda rule the place so they get dibs and we parents have to switch positions or else (LOL).

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr Music CarolynTannStarr.com TannStarr.com) about 2 years ago

C~ I was with Cynthia.. keep off my computer.. my husband has the mac... I have the Toshiba lap top.. and old desk top Dell and a notepad HP I got on Black Friday 3a.m at Best Buy for $125.00.  So covered on computers.. now to get all the back-up in the cloud! It just moved up on the todo list!

Is the good news you have back-up pictures and clips?  If no backup.. not so good :(

Note to self.. get hubby his own gaming computer :) Mother's day on Sunday and Father's day coming up!

You might also look at Open Office... it can sync with Google Docs so that you have online and offline versions of files...  I'm so over MS Office.  I am using the 2010 Beta, though.  Lovin' Outlook.

I feel your pain. I have a dead laptop that I can't get my pictures off of. So sad.

Posted by Lizette Fitzpatrick - Lexington KY MLS - Kentucky Homes - Horse Farms (Lizette Realty - Lexington KY - Richmond KY) about 2 years ago

Oh nooooooooooo!

Was going to ask if you want to lie down on the couch...but you have done something better..a good rant. Next.

Have a project brewing that might be perfect for you..combines so many of your talents. When you have a second, let's chat.

Margaret, on my way to Pawling NY. I have to start the shoot at 9. I will call you before I get there because my cell always goes out in the foothills of the Adirondacks (LOL).

Lizette, you too? My Sony Vaio did a crash and burn and I'm hoping the techs can resurrect it. So far no luck. I miss the Comp USA that used to be on Queens Blvd. Why did they take my fave store away???

Lane, I will download Open Office on hubby's computer. I'm lurking on his keyboards this morning. :-)

Carra, I do the "your side, my side, YOUR SIDE, MY Side," dance with the kids every morning about the electronics. If you turn on the TV in the living room Stephen demands Thomas the Train. Turn on the TV in the bedroom Noah demands Cartoons. Turn on the computer, Noah has t have the Lion King from YouTube running. Turn on the laptop, Stephen demands Netflix. Shorty is cute about it too. He pronounces it Netflux or Netflooks (LOL). Don't touch the computer is kinda like yelling NO VISUAL STIMLATION for you today... My kids are very visual learners (LOL).

Girl you have more adventures! I am guessing you will have a fabulous time reloading and find new ways to entertain us!  It will be a blessing in disguise - especially if you end up with a new MAC for Mother's Day!!!

Posted by Sheila O'Mara (Staged SO Right) about 2 years ago

Carolyn - Now THAT sounds frustrating!  I hope you can get your photos re-uploaded (is that a word?) quickly.  I love my Mac, too, by the way.  :)

Posted by Jason Crouch, Broker - Austin Texas Real Estate (512-796-7653) (Austin Texas Homes, LLC) about 2 years ago

C...

Good thing you live in New York. In Georgia, that would be a capital offense!

Posted by Richard Weisser Coweta Fayette Real Estate about 2 years ago

C -  glad you have the photos to reload, I am missing an entire card after lending it to my husband; still hoping it will show up.

So when are you visiting Northern Dutchess?

Posted by Jennifer Fivelsdal Rhinebeck Real Estate (Serving Dutchess| Columbia|Ulster Ctys (LIC. R.E. Broker JFIVE Home Realty LLC ) about 2 years ago

Jennifer, I was in Pawling all weekend. When I come back upstate I shall have to head your way. :-)

Richard, remember the Queen in Alice in Wonderland? It was an "Off with your head" moment (LOL).

Jason, I am still loading images... Very frustrating...

Sheila, alas no Mac... oh well... lets see what he eventually buys. :-)
